A ground with a new name, and a new purpose.

For generations, this ground — once known as the King George V Grounds — has stood as a symbol of hope and opportunity for the families of Gray's Farm. Today it carries a new name, the Keithley Sheppard Recreational Centre, in honour of one of Antigua's most exceptional football talents, and a new purpose: to be revitalized and uplifted for the generations still to come.

The site sits in the heart of St. John's, at the crossing point between the surrounding rural communities and the city itself — a place people already pass through every day to live and work, and now a place built to bring them together. On a 66,000-square-foot site at King Obstinate Drive, bounded by Gray's Farm Main Road, Bay Road, and Valley Road, the Centre is anchored by a FIFA-standard football pitch and the new Players Pavilion.

More than a grandstand.

The pavilion's first job is to be a proper spectators' stand: tiered, canopy-covered grandstand seating overlooking the pitch, with separate home and visitor locker rooms behind it. But its real ambition is bigger than match day.

Behind the glass-walled upper level sits a flexible conference and community hall, built to double as a daycare space, a hurricane shelter for the community in times of need, a venue for meetings and religious gatherings, and whatever else Gray's Farm needs it to be next. Six concession stalls give local vendors a permanent home on site, and public restrooms and storage round out a building designed to work as hard for the community as the field in front of it always has.

From request to construction-ready.

The project has moved steadily from concept to construction readiness. Since the original request to the Ministry of Sports in 2021, the site has been fully surveyed, the design has passed committee approval, and construction funding has been secured through a commitment from the Prime Minister. The design is now in final coordination with the Planning Authority, with field-levelling works supported by Parliamentary Representative the Hon. Michael Joseph.

An investment in a community that shows up.

The Keithley Sheppard Recreational Centre is more than a sporting facility — it's a tribute to a hometown talent, a piece of resilience infrastructure for St. John's, and an investment in the health, safety, and pride of a community that has never stopped showing up for this ground.
