Urban Incubator.

A small intervention, a catalyst.

Conceived as a micro-museum, creative think tank and social hub, the Urban Incubator explores how a small architectural intervention can become a catalyst for cultural exchange, creativity and community life within a rural Antiguan town.

The project brings together people from different generations, disciplines and walks of life, creating an informal setting for conversation, collaboration and imaginative cross-pollination. Rather than prescribing a single use, the architecture supports a fluid programme of exhibitions, workshops, talks, making, research, storytelling and spontaneous social interaction.

A museum and a think tank, side by side.

At its heart is a micro-museum — a compact platform for documenting and interpreting local stories, objects, ideas and cultural memory. Alongside it, flexible spaces operate as a think tank for creatives: a place where artists, designers, makers, entrepreneurs, students and members of the wider community can meet, exchange knowledge and develop new ideas.

Culture doesn't need a capital.

The project challenges the notion that spaces for cultural production and innovation must be concentrated within major urban centres. Instead, it positions the rural town as a place of intellectual, creative and social exchange, using architecture to connect local knowledge with new perspectives.

More than a building, the Urban Incubator is conceived as a living piece of social infrastructure — a place where community, culture and imagination intersect, and where unexpected encounters can become the starting point for new ideas.
